How to avoid limestone wast in processing? Processing technic is the key. Today, I’m gonna introduce limestone’s crushing and grinding process and how to select proper processing skills to fully use materials.

Limestone brief introduction

Limestone’s main component is calcium carbonate（CaCO₃）and its hardness is 3-4 in Mohs. Lime and limestone are usually used as building material and industrial raw material; Limestone can be processed into quicklime and supply for desulfurization in power plant. Limestone can also be directly processed as stone material or fired into quicklime(CaO). CaO will become hydrated lime whose main component is Ca(OH)₂ when it absorbs water or meets water. Ca(OH)2 can be made into lime slurry and lime putty and be used as coating material and brick and tile adhesive. 

Technical process requirement

Limestone is used in many industries. Some are used as industrial materials, some are used in road works, construction, cement, cultivation, smelting and instantizer, etc. Limestone for different utilization has different requirement for materials size and needs different processing technic. Limestone powder used as desulfurizers in power plants is 200-325mm and limestone used as calcium-magnesium powder is 400mm or so. Now let’s analyze it below. 

Limestone used in steel plant, desulfurizers in power plants, bituminous mixing plant and concrete mixing plant is at 200-325mesh and the Raymond mill, high pressure and European mill made in General Mining Machinery all can complete the above particle size. To select grinding mill according to requirement can meet production requirement well. And what are the processing technics for limestone?

Limestone grinding technical process

After the crusher crushes massive raw material into the required feeding size, the material is transported to stock bin by bucket elevator. Then it is transported to grinding chamber by electro-vibrating feeder uniformly. When scarper knife and grinding roller turn at the same time, the material is shoveled and thrown into the position between the grinding roller and roll collars and forms bedding layer. Then the material is grinded between the grinding roller and grinding ring, thus it achieves the purpose of milling. After grinding, the powder is taken into the analyzed engine for powder selecting by fan. Then the fine powders which reach the fineness request follow airflow and enter into the big cyclone collector for separation and collection. After they are discharged from the unloader, they become finished powders. The airflow is sucked into air blower from the upper end of big cyclone collector. The unqualified powders are thrown into the outer wall of the analyzed engine and are separated from airflow. Coarse powders fall down into the grinding chamber because of gravity and regrind.

Limestone crushing technical process

Limestone raw material is sent into jaw crusher uniformly and continuously by vibrating feeder for crushing, then the crushed stone is transported to transit bin for composting by conveyor belt. The crushed material is sent to the conveyor by feeder at the bottom of transit bin, then it is sent into impact crusher for fine crushing. The stone that meets the requirement is screened and cleaned in the following process. Large stone will return to impact crusher for second crushing. After crushing, the material is sent into circular vibrating screen by conveyor for screening, which can be divided into different kinds of finished stones. Machine sand enter roller washing machine to clean and remove dust and high quality machine-made sand is produced.
